may never
know
that the world
is built on
lies
so stand
ever
beholden
bereft
of true
surmise

Awakening
comes far
too late
to rise dazed
in rude
surprise
*
The Machine
is Master
of Deceit
we’re duped
before
our eyes
whence evil
rules just
everywhere
and truth
heart-broken
dies
*
A few who
know are
banished hence
to grieve
in stifled
cries
banished
hence
to languish
thence
on that
anguished
bridge of
sighs
