There are
no
honest wages
for dun
labors
of the heart
fey in
flush of blood
and tears
no healing
zephyrs
start
*
There one must
take the
rap
let hope for
mercies
go
submit to
the
blanched pain
watch the
laden spirit
flow
*
It’s the way
with
all flesh
this surely
must you
know
pining for
love’s
sweet requital
we reap more
than
we could sow
*
And faltering
in fading
grace
succumb to
wound
and woe
